Introducing environ-mental recordings
Environ-Mental Recordings is the new label from German techno producer Mijk van Dijk, also known as Microglobe. The label is designed to be a platform for new tracks created in his Berlin based studio, The Deerpark, as well as digitally re-mastered 90s gems, which were only available as the physical copies on the MFS Berlin label in the 90s. Timeless music for the next generation freshly squeezed and re-mastered!

Environmental thinking is a big issue right now and most of us understand that we can‘t go on living how we are, wasting the many precious resources of our planet and leading irresponsible lifestyles. Mijk van Dijk dealt with these issues 15 years ago on his groundbreaking debut album Afreuropamericasiaustralica, released under his Microglobe moniker in 1994 on the now discontinued label, MFS - Masterminded For Success, from Berlin. 2010 marks the re-release of this superb album, which will launch Environ-Mental Recordings head first into the electronic music world. Environ-Mental is dedicated to reducing waste and protecting natural resources, which is why the music, artwork and paperwork will all be digital.

During the making of the original album, Mijk chose to construct the tracks in a fashion that would make it easy to glue them together in the mastering studio. Remember, this was the MIDI age, when hard disk recording was still unbelievably rare and expensive. His studio was only a mere collection of old and cheap gear from the second-hand shop, MIDI-controlled by an Atari. As a result of this intensive production method, most of the original tracks on the CD album had no proper start or ending. Mijk has personally edited all tracks for this 2010 re-release to let each of them stand on their own feet.

Afreuropamericasiaustralica is released on the 27th of August.
Get it on WhatPeoplePlay, Beatport and other webstores.

Tracklisting: Microglobe - Afreuropamericasiaustralica
01. Berlin Entrance
02. What Is Space
03. Ambition
04. Timeout
05. Environ-Mentality (Act 3)
06. Change Within
07. The Gap
08. Trust
09. Fear Of The Unknown
10. Culture Clash
11. Home
12. All Our Colours
13. Afreuropamericasiaustraica
14. The Good Earth
15. High On Hope (reprise)

The re-release of Mijk’s first album also marks the launch of his first label ‚Environ-Mental Recordings‘, which is dedicated to reduce all possible waste of natural resources. That‘s why we ‚change within‘ and go all digital for the first time with the music, artwork and paperwork, to show our ‚ambition‘ to preserve our planet „Afreuropamericasiaustralica“. Stay tuned for more to come!

Introducing mijkfunk
It's about time to introduce you to mijkfunk. Mijk is gonna take off to explore new ground, which is actually going back to his roots: Funk Music.
When Mijk bought his first Roland TR-505 Drum Machine back in the late 90s, he wanted to create Minneapolis Funk like Prince, The Time, Jimmy Jam & terry Lewis and other influencees like Zapp, The Gap Band and Cameo. Then there came "Jack" and he was influenced by the vibe of House music. But The Funk was never forgotten and right now he is rediscovering his youth as a bass player in local North German Funk Band "Joystick" and writing song about song soon to be launched on his NuFunk label, combining Funk and Electro with the knowledge of House.
For first impressions you wanna check his live set at Maria Club Berlin and his defining DJ-mix about modern Funk.
First releases include a remix for Space Factory recording artist DJ Mini from Montreal and Mijk's very own project Plato.
Check back for more. ;-)

Marmion Schöneberg 2010 Remixes
It's been almost 7 years since the last offering of remixes for the Marmion classic "Schöneberg", produced by Marcos Lopez & Mijk van Dijk back in 1993.
We think it was worth the wait since the new versions by no other than DJ Hell, Abe Duque, Donnacha Costello, Chaim, Roberto Rodriguez and Sebastian Krieg & Strobe.
Available at all major downloadstores like Beatport and also on vinyl.

Plato with Jette von Roth - The Ashes Of Our Dreams
Finally here's a new release of Mijk's project Plato on Dutch label Big & Dirty.
"The Ashes Of Our Dreams" shows the deeper side of Plato, with thoughtful lyrics
and a great vocal performance by German singer Jette von Roth, known from her
work with KayCee and Schiller.
"The Ashes Of Our Dreams" reflects what was and could have been and that we can
regain what seems to be lost.
There are three Plato versions and a lot of great remixes by up-and-coming
Portugese Trance producer Mossy, Hungarian Minmalist and Sound Designer
Cave Sedem, mysterious Techno producer Toneking, as well Mijk's very new
mijkfunk project.
Some versions are available in the Plato MySpace-Player.
Now digitally out on Beatport.

Ebony & Ivory
Mijk's 4th 12" is out on BluFin-Records from Cologne now.
This is what the promo says:

The piano: endless source of inspiration for generations of musicians.
Although Mijk van Dijk is known for his love of piano tracks, he has not touched the piano for years - until he invented some infectious hooks of this EP while preparing-lines for his new live performance tracks which went down like a storm during his sets.
So he decided to dedicate his 4th EP on BluFin to the piano, black and white.
Ebony features a gospel-influenced upright piano groove reminiscent of great moments in house music.
Ivory is the "white" version of the piano, a rocking Wurlitzer hook straight from the late 70s.
While the pianos breathe the old school flavour of Mijk's best works from the past, the grinding relentless grooves are his path for future funk flavoured productions.
One of Mijk's favourite producers of 2009 provided the remix. Phunklarique lives up to his name and delivers a funky variation with a relentless groove that just won't stop.

Nuff said! Just one more thing:  Out now!

The Change

The last postings on this page covered the past. Now let's move forward into the future again. Mijk's got a brandnew bag. Inspired from his past as a bass player in Funk bands and fueled by today's electro sound, he created NuFunk. Now some of you might wonder what is NuFunk and what is it what NuFunk does. Mijk will explain soon: with Music.
Here is the first step: The Change, Mijk's NuFunk duo with Florian Schirmacher, the charismatic singer and co-producer of bands like Glowing Glisses, Wareika, Federleicht, Hatikvah.as well as releasing with André Galuzzi and Guido Schneider on labels such as Cadenza and Cocoon. Different from these releases, that gained him big respect from DJs and music lovers, with The Change Florian totally exhibits his funky side and shows what a great singer he is. The Change were signed by French label Space Factory Records, the label of mighty Gigolo artist David Carretta. Their first offering is "Love Devotion", a cover version of Mijk's original tune of his first Superstition release "Mijk's Magic Marble Box - The 4 Seasons Of The Mind" way back from 1993, giving you a first taste what Mijk and Florian's vision of NuFunk is about.
"Love Devotion" is being released on the new Space Factory "Catalogue" Compilation.
Proper releases and remixes will follow soon. Get it at Beatport!

Already some months before in July 1989, the first Loveparade was celebrated in Westberlin on the Ku'Damm and to celebrate this, the inventor of Love Parade Dr. Motte together with "Haus der Kulturen der Welt" is organizing a party called "Party Like It's 1989". Along with DJs of the first technoi years like Tanith and Rok, Mijk will play music from an era, when House and Techno was still new and every new record stepped ground, where no producer had boldly gone before. Christmas-EP on BluFin 051 out now
That's right, folks, it's Christmas time again and we all gather around the Christmas tree to open our presents and sing those Carols.
For those of you, who rather DJ and dance than sing out loud, Mijk van Dijk from Berlin puts a very special 12" under the blue-finned Christmas tree: his 3rd EP on BluFin is a double-featured seasons greeting which will bring joy for the whole family. Jingling bells from Santa's sledge meet sweetest sounds from angel's choirs while a smell of ginger bread floats through the bass lines.
Mijk says: "I always wanted to create an EP with Christmas sounds and finally the time was right. Thanks to BluFin for the special artwork, the first time NOT in blue and black."
These Christmas Carols will surely keep the fest of love in our hearts at least until Santa's fellow, the Easter Bunny returns.
Mijk van Dijk and all at BluFin wish you a happy Christmas!

Lovedrunk and Punchdrunk
And here's Mijk's latest guest "performance": his appearance on Gastspiel Recordings, the lovely little label from Stuttgart. 2 new tracks by Mijk including a fantastic remix by Daniela Stickroth and Walter Ercolino. The A-Side track is called "Liebestrunken" which means "lovedrunk" - and "Sternhagelvoll" (or "punchdrunk" in English) is the feeling of the flipside track with it's tumbling bass. You can check it already on Mijk's MySpace page.
Here's what the label has to say:
"Next Gastspiel release is by a true legend: Berlin based producer and DJ Mijk van Dijk started his career back in 1990! He produced some of the first techno records out of Berlin and later on, he was a pioneer for the music that is called “Trance” today, working with guys like Cosmic Baby.
In 2006, after a long break, it was time for a new beginning: With a new and fresh sound, Mijk is doing it again with releases on labels like International DeeJay Gigolo Recordings, Big & Dirty,
Kling Klong and BluFin!
The first track “Liebestrunken” is a strong bass-driven tech-house tune with some beautiful melodic synthie lines. Next to the original, there´s a wonderful deep and minimal remix by Meerestief´s finest Daniela Stickroth & Walter Ercolino. The second track is called “Sternhagelvoll” – a true bass-monster, reflecting the feeling when you are drunk as hell…"

Some of you might already have heard it in the clubs: Mijk van Dijk will give his debut on DJ Good Groove's legendary Frisbee Records label with his "Motherwomb-EP" featuring the tracks "Anticipation" and "Motherwomb", catalogue number #073.
The title refers to Mijk playing around with a sound deep from the motherwomb of Techno: the gate effect! Obviously the gate effect has been horribly abused by 1000s of bad Trance productions over the last 15 years but Mijk's re-interpretation of "the gate" sounds fresh like a new-born baby. Also, these tracks are dedicated to Mijk's new-born daughter Maja, who was anticipated very dearly while growing in her mother's womb.

New release by Namito and Mijk van Dijk on Circle Music

Over 5 years after their "Härter"-Release on Confused Records, Mijk created a bass-heavy production with long-term buddy Namito, who is just recently going through the roof with his fresh new "Joujou-EP" on Kling Klong Records.
"Bassfood" features sub-sonic bass breaks that will shake the bass system of your club. Namito's Remix is a dark gloomy groover, while Mijk adds bright and spacey tones to the fat  original bass riff. Out on Circle 014 by the end of April.
You can listen to Mijk's and Namito's remixes on Mijk's MySpace-Site

New Mijk van Dijk release on BluFin-Records out now!
Mijk created a new 2-track 12" called "Denn es ist wie es ist, weil Du bist wie Du bist"
(German for: "Cause it is what it is, since you are the way you are").
It's out now on BluFin-Records from Cologne.
The fat vinyl mastering has been provided by Martin Eyerer.
You can check it out on Mijk's MySpace-Site.

This is what BluFin label boss Andrea Engels wrote in her newsletter:
New in the BluFin roster. Mijk Van Dijk ,the man with a lot of hits like the alltime anthem Marmion. He keeps up the pressure and is back with outstanding new releases in 2006.
Weil Du bist, wie Du bist - actually a german statement that can be read both ways, with a positive or sceptical view on the people around. Already DJing since the late 80s, berlin based top producer MIJK VAN DIJK sure has seen it all from the view of DJ boothes as well as generally in music business worldwide. Maybe it's a final conclusion you draw, when you start realizing that things as well as people just are as they are, and that your music can express feelings more then words could do. The Synths have a certain melancholic feeling, embedded in strong minimal drumming and a warm general mood that goes along with the sound of recent producers like Martin Landsky, Loco Dice or John Tejada. Catching you up in the warmup time, pushing you further at the peaktime, calming you down in the morning. This record fits it all. Certainly a bigtime player in every minimal touched DJ Set.

The Guy's A Gigolo, man!
The little quote by Neneh Cherry (from "Buffalo Stance") says it all: Mijk will soon join DJ Hell's Gigolo-Records-Camp with a  co-production with Berlin  DJ-Legend Rok called "Jack Your Ass", an infectious jackin' piece with strong remixes by each Rok & Mijk, where Old School goes Future School. Expected release date for Gigolo #205 is December/ January.
In the meantime Mijk worked with DJ Hell on a remix for "I Go Hard, I Go Home" by Gigolo-Act The Presets (out now on Modularpeople) and engineered Hell's next mix compilation "Misch Masch Vol. 3", out on Fine Music in December 2006.

Laurent Garnier: Wider is definitely the one for me. GREAT. Will play everywhere
Agoria: full support for the the great ep of mijk van dijk who has done here a great record
Arnaud Rebotini (Black Strobe): i love the a side it amazing track the melody is wicked
Toni Rios: the great mijk van dijk is back. nice tracks!!!!!!!
Martin Landsky: yeah...mijk is back.....
Hans Nieswandt: Miijk van Dijk gefällt mir auch sehr gut, vor allem die este Seite…
Diringer: "wider" goes deep i like
Derek Taylor: Really like both tracks here! but from what i've heard the 'Wider' track is the best of the two! really cool, grinding tech-housers!! quality!! 8/10
Shinedoe: I like this track.
Mark Dynamix: Good to hear Mijk back to his minimial sounds, almost sounding like Pascal FEOS with his new track CLOSER, but more distorted and fucked up! nice 9/10  Wider is good also
Tube & Berger: Ist ja echt geiles Zeug vom Herrn van Dijk. Damit werden wir am Samstag den Cocoon damit rocken ;-) Closer: minimal trance in its highest perfection… This will be a hit! Wider: not as strong as Closer, but still a must have.
Tedd Patterson: Deep!!! great tune
Louis Osbourne: Really Really Really diggin this Mijk Van Djik release. One of the best things from you guys in a while.
Satoshi Tomiie: I like both tunes, Wider works for me...
Oxia: I like “Closer”, good groovy track. ‘wider’ is a good track too.
Andry Nalin: mein tune ist definitiv "closer". coole hook, in my chart for shure.
Paul Jackson: Really like "Closer". More quality music from a quality label.
Claude VonStroke: Closer sounds really interesting. The synth line reminds me of old b-boy electro breakdance music. Wider is more minimal and less interesting to me although the drums are a little bit more my style with a funk swing.  I can hear Martin Eyerer in this one for sure.
Tomaz: just yesterday I got Mijk's release on Big&Dirty... great to see he's back
Aldrin: Wow.. Mijk Van Dijk.. Haven't heard that name for a while..and I like the new sound. Closer is a killer track. Another rocket from Kling Klong.
Richard Larive (Energy Mastermix): Superding! Schön minimalistisch - und vor allem schön, dass von diesem Künstler mal wieder was hört...
Emerson:finde die scheibe super, beide titel kann ich spielen, vor allem die closer
Michel De Hey: Thanks I like the bside. Must sound great in the club. Minimal but not boring.
Stephan Hinz:die Tracks sind beide monstermässig. Mein Favorit ist Wider, Closer kann aber natürlich auch Tricks.´

"Schöneberg", the classic Marmion-track by Mijk van Dijk and Marcos Lopez has made it into the German feuilleton. It is featured as one of 20 music pieces to picture the soundtrack of the year of 1994 in the SZ Diskothek Book-series by renowned German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung.
